post week 6 wrap-up

GREAT WEEK OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL. MOSTLY ATTRIBUTED TO OKLAHOMA'S SOLID BEATING OF TEXAS. Northwestern lost to Michigan, but who is surprised.
in other news, i'd like to take this opportunity to call out the Daily Northwestern's sports desk - i am currently 11-0 in Big Ten picks, and am beating all the guys. love it.

all in all, it was a very predictable week in college football. no upsets - everyone who should have won did. so we're going to do our wrap-up differently today.

AP and USA Today Top 25, Week 7
the weekend's notables:
1. unranked Wake Forest beats #23 Florida State at home. like, 23 isn't very high, but guys, WAKE FOREST IS A JOKE OF A FOOTBALL TEAM. HOW DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN FLORIDA STATE? i'll tell you how it happened: turnovers. EJ Manuel threw for two touchdowns and two interceptions.
consequence: see yuh, Florida State... oh, and Wake Forest will never be ranked.

2. #3 Oklahoma rapes #11 Texas in an amazing game, 55-17. so many mistakes from Texas, i don't even know where to begin (sorry Heidi). it was a mess of picks and fumbles - but not from Oklahoma, whose quarterback Landry Jones had no turnovers. OU scored three defensive touchdowns, so embarrassing. but we can't be too hard on Texas - their offensive group is so young.
consequence: Oklahoma stays at #3 on the AP WHAT THE FUCK PEOPLE DO YOU NOT WATCH FOOTBALL OR AT LEAST LOOK AT THE SCORES? while Texas slips to #22/21.

3. #1 LSU beats #12 Florida, 41-11 in Gatortown. it was so easy that LSU even put in their back-up QB for a lil bit. Florida's having an awful time, as they were beat by Alabama just last week.
consequence: LSU stays at 1, sure whatever. Florida disappears from both polls. a little harsh, don't you think assholes? so they got pummeled by the TOP-RANKED team in the nation. it fucking happens. and how does Texas get to stay on while Florida doesn't? fuck this system.

and now for a quick rundown of all the other boring games that happened because literally nothing exciting happened this weekend:
#9 Oregon beats unranked California, 43-15
#5 Boise State beats unranked Fresno State as part of THE EASIEST SCHEDULE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, 57-7
#2 Alabama beats unranked Vanderbilt in a shootout, 34-0
#6 Oklahoma State beats unranked Kansas 70-28
#7 Stanford beats unranked Colorado 48-7
#8 Clemson beats unranked Boston College 36-14
#10 Arkansas beats #15 Auburn 38-14
#12 Michigan beats unranked Northwestern 42-24 because Northwestern sucks and cannot hold a lead for more than two quarters
#13 Georgia Tech beats unranked Maryland 21-16
#14 Nebraska beats unranked Ohio State 34-27 because OSU is now a joke
#16 West Virginia beats unranked Connecticut 43-16
#18 South Carolina beats unranked Kentucky 54-3
#19 Illinois beats unranked Indiana 41-20
#20 Kansas State beats unranked Missouri 24-17
#21 Virginia Tech beats unranked Miami (Florida) 38-35
#22 Arizona State beats unranked Utah 35-14
#24 Texas A&M beats unranked Texas Tech 45-40
#25 Baylor beats unranked Iowa State 49-26

DO YOU SEE A PATTERN HERE? why didn't any top 25 teams besides LSU and Oklahoma play a legitimate opponent this week?!?!
AND WHY DOES NORTHWESTERN SUCK

games to keep an eye on:
1. #6 Oklahoma State at #22 Texas. there's nothing like a Big 12 South game. that is all.
2. #18 Arizona State at #9 Oregon. this doesn't seem like a big deal, but Oregon really does not have a difficult schedule. this will be one of their more intense foes. let's see how they do.
3. #11 Michigan at #23 Michigan State. state rivalries are always great; even better if they're both ranked.
4. #20 Baylor at #21 Texas A&M. another Big 12 game, except no one cares about it.
5. unranked Florida at #24 Auburn. both teams were so hyped up pre-season, but now they're pretty pitiful. still, i think Auburn is the better team here.
