look, let's just do it.
AP and USA Today Top 25, Week 9
the weekend's notables:
1. unranked Syracuse beats #15 West Virginia 49-23. this was the highest-ranked opponent Syracuse has beat since 2002, when they triumphed over #8 Virginia Tech. basically, Syracuse's Ryan Nassib passed alllll over WVU's defense. WVU's offense couldn't retaliate. gone.
consequence: West Virginia moves to #25/#24. Syracuse still unranked.
2. #3 Oklahoma loses to unranked Texas Tech at home 41-38. i don't even know what to say. it was Bob Stoops's third loss at home, ever. honestly, i just wanna hurt the entire team like it hurt me. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME WHY DID YOU GIVE UP 572 YARDS, DEFENSE, AND MICHAEL HUNNICUTT WHY DO THEY STILL LET YOU KICK WHEN YOU CLEARLY CANNOT MAKE A SIMPLE FIELD GOAL WHEN IT MATTERS WHY ARE YOU CONSTANTLY TERRIBLE SPECIAL TEAMS
consequence: Oklahoma slips to #11/#9; Texas Tech goes to #19/#22, i cry myself to sleep, etc. etc. MEHHHHHHHH
3. #16 Michigan State beats #6 Wisconsin 37-31. ahhhhhh no, what happened. i'll tell you what happened: Kirk Cousins, Michigan State's quarterback. he's great. the game was hard-fought until the very end - you know, Big Ten shit or something. Wisconsin was down 31-17 in the fourth quarter before catching up to a tie. in the very, very end, MSU's Keith Nichol caught a 44-yard pass to end it.
consequence: Michigan State takes it up to #9/#10. Wisconsin slips to #12/#11.
4. unranked Purdue beats #23 Illinois 21-14. what's going on, Big Ten? these conference battles are so nasty. what's even more sad is that Illinois was trailing 21-0 for three quarters - it wasn't until fourth quarter they actually scored. Purdue might have the hardest remaining schedule, though: they still have Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Iowa to look forward to. fuck.
consequence: Illinois disappears from the rankings; Purdue wasn't ever gonna be ranked anyways.
ALSO, NORTHWESTERN LOSES ITS FIFTH GAME IN A ROW AND ITS OWN FUCKING HOMECOMING GAME HOW ABOUT THAT
games to keep an eye on:
1. #9 Oklahoma at #8 Kansas State. shit fuck. if we don't win this one, i hate everyone. Kansas State is undefeated whoooo. but at the same time, OU knows how to get revenge.
2. #11 Michigan at #14 Nebraska. yes, another intense Big Ten matchup. i'm not gonna even try to call it this time... except i have to for The Daily Northwestern this thursday... but also, i'm starting to have more respect for the Big Ten, yeah i said it.
3. unranked Purdue at #18 Michigan. YEAH PURDUE let's keep this momentum up yay i love underdogzzz
You best be favoring nebraska in next week's match up girl. also, big ten is the shit.
