coach: Gene Chizik, second year. yes, he led his team to a national championship in his second year of coaching. MUCH LIKE THIS GUY. used to coach Iowa State Cyclones, who were 2-10 in 2008. puhthetic.

quarterback: either last year's back-up junior Barrett Trotter, who didn't play much last year because Cam Newton is perfect, or sophomore Clint Moseley. or quite possibly even the new recruit Kiehl Frazier. Barrett and Clint aren't that great to look at.

i think we all know who should take starting QB.

the low-down: yes, they are coming off the high of a national championship. they had a perfect season. so why are they ranked 19th? because they lost Cam Newton to the NFL's Carolina Panthers and best defensive player Nick Fairley to the Detroit Lions, plus they lost a bunch of other starters from last year's star team. it's a rebuilding year - probably some of the most dreaded words to college football fans. it'll be interesting to see how they do against Mississipi State, LSU, South Carolina and Alabama. as in, it will be sad to watch them lose those games. it'll also be difficult for Coach Chizik to work basically from scratch after having a fantastic team. let's not forget his team of losers at Iowa State went 2-10 just a few years ago.
first game: Utah State at home. should NOT have trouble with this one. Utah State went 4-10 last year.
