#18 notre dame fighting irish

everything you need to know about Notre Dame is this: now completely overrated.
basically, Notre Dame is the grandfather of college football. they have 11 national championships, which is tied for first out of all schools. they have produced 96 All-Americans and seven Heisman winners.
they have an incredible alum fan base. because Notre Dame football is not a sport, it is a cult.
but there's really not much to back it up now, since as you can see, Notre Dame is only ranked 18th. they've had a bad last few seasons, with a 3-9 season in 2007 and a 6-6 season in 2008. 2009 started to suck and then they fired head coach Charlie Weis.
colors: navy and gold
conference: INDEPENDENT. yes, that's right - Notre Dame does not have a conference. they are apparently too good for one.
mascot: Notre Dame Leprechaun
here's to reducing the Irish culture to a small, mythical creature
coach: Brian Kelly, second year. they hired him after firing Charlie Weis in 2009. Kelly previously coached Cincinnati to a 12-0 season and BCS bowl.
me hungry!
quarterback: competition between #10 senior Dayne Crist and #11 sophomore Tommy Rees. Crist was starting quarterback last season until he injured his knee in a game against Tulsa (LOLZ TULSA) and Rees came in to take over.
Dayne Crist
hottie index: 5/10
eight-year-old Tommy Rees
hottie index: not going to do one because it feels illegal. the boy is literally a child.
also, we all know NO ONE compares to 2005-2007 Notre Dame starting quarterback and most beautiful football player in the world BRADY QUINN. now plays for the Denver Broncos (THANKS CAMMM).
broke 36 Notre Dame records
double-majored in political science and finance
is the perfect man.
the low-down: not a bad season last year, where they went 8-5 and finished with a win against Miami (Florida) at the Sun Bowl. but when we look at the teams they lost to - Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford (okay, that's forgiven because Stanford is boss), Navy, Tulsa?! - it's kind of surprising they're even ranked this high. they have a brilliant coach, and their offense is pretty good. but their defense still needs work, especially their passing defense. they have a hard schedule, but like, what did you expect? you're not in a fucking conference. they play Michigan and Michigan State, an improving Air Force, rival Navy, Boston College, and the formidable Stanford. i think their season will turn out something like last year's.
first game: University of South Florida at home. another Florida school that i did not know existed. Notre Dame takes it.
