much of this is attributed to all the free time NOT doing my homework extends to me.
anyways, let's get to itttttt.
AP and USA Today Top 25, Week 6, AKA Proof that AP has it out for Oklahoma for no reason.
so you may have noticed Oklahoma is now ranked third in the AP, regardless of our amazing 62-6 win full of style points against Ball State. 'Bama beat Florida 38-10 in a ranked SEC matchup, so they definitely deserve the #2 slot. but LSU beat unranked Kentucky 35-7, not that impressive -- if anything, it should be:
1. Oklahoma
2. Alabama
3. LSU
i hate AP.
last week's notables:
1. #7 Wisconsin kills #8 Nebraska 48-17, proving once again that i do know what i'm talking about and a certain someone should really just admit to it, and should also bring me flowers at some point to atone for everything he's done. Wisconsin's QB Russell Wilson beasted out with three touchdowns while Nebraska's Taylor Martinez threw three interceptions. not quite the same. could not have asked for a better turn-out for this matchup.
consequence: predictably, Wisconsin rises up to #4/5 and Nebraska sinks to #14/15.
2. unranked Auburn upsets AT #10 South Carolina 16-3. hilariously great and i love that Auburn's getting angry. it also all hinged on the last drive, which is the best way to win a game. Auburn's back on the map, and if they can stay, they have a shot at a good bowl.
consequence: Auburn shoots up to #15 on AP (which makes no sense) and #23 on USA Today (which makes more sense).
3. #13 Clemson kills AT #11 Virginia Tech 23-3, keeping their season perfect and winning a third straight game against a ranked team. Clemson defense + VT silly mistakes won the game.
consequence: Clemson rightfully stands at #8. could be even higher, in my opinion. Virginia Tech slumps to #21/17.
4. #18 Arkansas slides by #14 and Big 12 traitor Texas A&M 42-38. life lesson: bad things happen once you leave the conference of Oklahoma. Arkansas' Tyler Wilson threw a school record 510 yards to beat the Aggies, who are now 2-2. they better get used to it because this is the life they chose.
consequence: Arkansas up to #10/12 and A&M barely hangs onto rankings at #24/25.
5. unranked Kansas State barely picks off #15 Baylor 36-35. K-State now 4-0, with Baylor's season soiled by a first loss. Baylor QB Robert Griffin makes a Tim Tebow-esque speech about how everything is his fault.
consequence: Kansas State appears at #20/21 with Baylor barely hanging on at AP's #25.
6. unranked SMU beats #20 TCU 40-33. and TCU wants to join Big 12... is this a joke? TCU QB Casey Paschall just couldn't get his team into his endzone, even after throwing three TD passes in the last quarter of the game. sad yet not at all.
consequence: the world of rankings is a cruel one, and TCU gets voted off the island.
games to keep an eye on:
1. IT'S OU-TEXAS WEEK, BABY!!!!! #3 Oklahoma plays #11 Texas in the annual Red River Rivalry game in Dallas. cannot wait, because regardless of rankings or Heisman-watch players, both teams bring out the big guns for this redneck rivalry. also, the Red River winner usually goes on to play in the Big 12 championship representing the South division.
2. #1 LSU plays #17 Florida at home. i mean yeah, unbeaten powerhouse LSU will take the win, but still a good game to watch out for.
3. #15 Auburn at #10 Arkansas. both teams are 4-1, should be interesting to see who comes out on top.
HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEK AND WEAR CRIMSON EVERY DAY.
