if you're an idiot or you haven't looked at a computer in the past week, you may not have heard about the scandal plaguing Penn State's football program and the subsequent probable dismissal of coach Joe Paterno. yes, the 409-win-record-setting coach.
if this is the case, here's NYT on it.
(the photo is from last year's game against Northwestern at Ryan Field, lulz.)
BASICALLY, here's the rundown:
in 2002, former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was said to have been seen sexually assaulting a young boy in the football locker room showers.
a graduate assistant said he saw the act and reported the assault.
Paterno has publicly stated he was never told about this incident.
HOWEVER, an anonymous source to the NY Times says differently; he claims the assistant told Paterno about the event and Coach Paterno didn't alert the police.
Sandusky has now been charged with sexually assaulting eight boys throughout a 15-year period. he was arrested Saturday, Nov. 5.
the media is calling for the resignation of Paterno and Penn State's president Graham Spanier.
though Paterno is not being charged, much of the Penn State community is saying he did not act morally by not alerting the police, setting a terrible example.
Penn State is planning an exit strategy for its most famous, and arguably college football's most legendary, coach.
