mascot: Chief Osceola and Renegade. soooo, either this is really racist or this is really cool. i haven't decided yet. they straight up find a Native American guy, call him Chief, and put him on a horse.

offensive? ...or badass?

coach: Jimbo Fisher, second year. took over after Bobby Bowden spent 34 years as head coach and retired. has been offensive/quarterback coaches for Auburn, Cincinnati, LSU and Florida State.

also... his name is Jimbo.

quarterback: #3 junior E.J. Manuel. took over as starter when he was just a freshman when Christian Ponder injured his shoulder. played a few times last season, and will officially start this season.

the low-down: lost four games last season, but won the Chick-fil-A Bowl against South Carolina. so, why are they ranked so high? there are 16 starters who have only gotten better over offseason. and now that the Seminoles (okay, really? i'm erring on the side of offensive now) have gotten a taste of what it's like to have a good season and win a bowl, they want it even more. no need to worry about offense - they're only losing one starter, and people have complete faith in Manuel to lead them far. their defensive line is experienced and deep, too. it looks like this is the year for Florida State... to get as far as they possibly can. let's not get too excited, though - they play Oklahoma early on, then Florida as a season ender. we'll see.
