ahhhhhh fuck this football weekend... except OU won, fortunately. not much else (read: nothing) went my way. but THAT'S OKAY I GUESS
AP and USA Today Top 25, Week 14
the weekend's notables:
1. #1 LSU kills #3 Arkansas 41-17, goddammit. stop proving you deserve to be number one so adequately. pretty hilarious game if you like LSU though, because Arkansas actually led 14-0 for a bit, but then LSU came back and ran train all over 'em, scoring three touchdowns before the first half even ended. that means LSU stays undefeated, and if they beat #13 Georgia in an SEC showdown next week, they're headed to the BCS National Championship wahhhh.
consequence: LSU stays first, obvi. Arkansas slips to #10 in the USA Today (which is the poll BCS looks at for its rankings), which is a really steep fall. but i guess they did get run over in the game.
2. #6 Stanford beats #22 Notre Dame 28-14. blah blah blah Andrew Luck is awesome n stuff lalala can you tell i did not watch this game
consequence: Stanford moves up to #4 while Notre Dame gets booted, tough break brahs.
3. #2 Alabama wrecks #24 Auburn 42-14 lol remember when Auburn won the National Championship last year? lol. LOL. Alabama's quarterback AJ McCarron and running back Trent Richardson joined up to rack up several touchdowns (McCarron threw for three in the first half, to be exact, and Richardson rushed for a career-high 203 yards). anyways, does anyone really wanna see Alabama and LSU play each other again...? sadly, yes. yes they do.
consequence: Alabama doesn't move, Auburn gets kicked off lololol.
4. #12 South Carolina beats #17 Clemson 34-13, awww poor Clemson. SC's defense team is the real winner here with five sacks (when the other team tackles the quarterback before he gets the chance to throw it or run forward... is what that is).
consequence: South Carolina moves to #13 (ESPN uses the AP for some reason), Clemson goes down to #21.
5. #13 Georgia beats long-time rival #23 Georgia Tech 31-17. Georgia's QB Aaron Murray (sexy) threw for four touchdowns and only one interception. locked it up. not much else to say.
consequence: Georgia to #14 USA Today, Georgia Tech to... nowhere.
6. #16 Wisconsin dominates #19 Penn State 45-7. wrong wording...? mehehheh. Wisconsin running back Montee Ball (hehe) was the game-changer, along with QB Russell Wilson, who has thrown a touchdown pass for 36 games straight -- tying an NCAA record. so while Wisconsin does not have a shot at a BCS bowl, they'll play in the Big Ten championship against Michigan State (their second matchup against the Spartans) and probs get a pretty good bowl bid regardless of whether or not they win.
consequence: Wisconsin now #12 in the USA Today, Penn State down at #22.
AND... LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
*#9 Oklahoma is less sloppy than unranked Iowa State, resulting in a 26-6 win. okay seriously? grossest win ever. both teams were so fucking sloppy - interceptions, fumbles errrrwhere. let's just say i no longer hate kicker Michael Hunnicutt like i used to... esp when he was the only consistent scorer of the game. Landry Jones, you suck and you're going to have to improve if we're gonna beat OSU. Kenny Stills, stop being fucking lazy, you only contribute to my hate for people from southern California yeah i said it, and Roy Finch, please stop fucking up and be more consistent.
so if we sucked so much, how did we win? Iowa State sucked even more.
AND I WAS THERE! MY FIRST OU GAME SINCE HIGH SCHOOL!!! AND IT WAS WINDY AND COLD AND EVERYONE AROUND ME WAS OBESE AND ANNOYING!!!
VIDEO: what the Sooners do for every punt
consequence: Oklahoma moves DOWN to #11 WHAT. WHAT IS THIS.
games to keep an eye on:
lol all of them. no but really, it's the last game of the season for most teams before bowl announcements come out.
1. #11 OKLAHOMA AT #3 OKLAHOMA STATE BRING IT BITCHES!!!!!!!! jk, we're prolly gonna lose if we keep playing like SHIT.
2. #14 Georgia at #1 LSU. this is not a fair or even remotely interesting matchup. LSU gonna run shit.
3. #5 Virginia Tech at #20 Clemson. will be a breeze for VT and will probably knock Clemson out of a good bowl.
4. #24 Southern Miss at #6 Houston LOL WHAT who is Southern Miss and also who let Houston get this far undefeated? oh, that's right, Conference USA did. fuck all you teams with easy schedules.
5. #15 Wisconsin at #13 Michigan State. BIG TEN WHAT UP!!! Wisconsin please win this and prove yourselves the top Big Ten team... i have faith in you, kinda.
6. #22 Texas at #17 Baylor. AHHH I HATE BOTH OF YOU TEAMS GO DIE
THAT'S IT, NOW TIME FOR MY 10-PAGE SOCIOLOGY RESEARCH PAPER FOR WHICH I HAVE PREPARED NOTHINGGGGGG
