post week 14 wrap-up

happy birthday, Annie! here's an awful loss to our rival and a shitty 9-3 season for you. xoxo
love, the Sooners

here's a pretty good idea of how i feel about OSU fans who do this. and a pretty accurate representation of what kind of person i am as well (read: lovely and gracious).

who cares if she made a good point, i take correct grammar very seriously. but don't blame her for her illiteracy - she goes to Oklahoma State.
so there's that. now let's do this.

it was a really interesting weekend full of conference championships (or titles, if your conference is now so sparse it has no such thing).

Stupid AP and USA Today Top 25, Week 15

the weekend's notables:
1. #10 Oklahoma gets absolutely wrecked by #3 Oklahoma State 10-44 in a really tense state rivalry. i can't really tell you anything about the second half, because i started drinking my sorrows away right around then. but i can tell you that Landry Jones really sucked the entire game, throwing a whopping four interceptions YAY GOOD JOB!!! props go to pretty much everyone besides Landry, including Michael Hunnicutt, who kicked a 48-yard field goal, and Blake Bell, my new favorite Sooner - he's a freshman QB with basically one job: score touchdowns. which he did. and Landry did not. OSU's quarterback Brandon Weeden (who is, true statement, older than at least six NFL quarterbacks) is good, but what puts OSU over the top is the fact that it has amazing rushers and receivers, notably Justin Blackmon, who had 10 receptions in this game. there's now a huge chance of OSU going to the BCS National Championship, because like i said, no one wants to see LSU play Alabama again.
anyways, can't say i didn't expect this loss. it was fine, we had tequila in the apartment.
consequence: my Sooners are dragged allll the way down to #19. the Pokes stay at #3.

2. #1 LSU beats #14 Georgia 42-10. people like to hate on LSU (don't look at my previous LSU post LoLzZz), but they are undeniably the best college football team of this season. nothing to say about this game - do we really wanna continue to hear about how great they are? see you in the BCS, LSU.
consequence: LSU stays at #1, Georgia down a few spots to #18.

3. #20 Clemson wrecks #5 Virginia Tech 38-10. YAY there's the Clemson team we knew earlier this season! the Tigers' QB sophomore Tajh Boyd threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. it was the first time Clemson has won ten games in a season since 1990.
consequence: Clemson climbs a little to #14, VTech to #17 in the AP, but #11 in the USA Today, where it really matters.

4. #24 Southern Miss derails #6 Houston 49-28, ending Houston's previously undefeated season and giving Southern Miss the oh-so-coveted haha Conference USA title. WHY ARE PEOPLE ACTING SURPRISED. HOUSTON IS NOT THAT GOOD. this was literally the first game ALL SEASON that they played against a ranked team, and they fucked up. it's easy to go 12-1 if you play teams like Marshall (?) and North Texas...
consequence: Southern Miss moves up to #22 (AP) and #21 (USA Today), Houston still ahead of them at #20/#17.

5. #15 Wisconsin triumphs #13 Michigan State 42-39 and snags the Big Ten title and a trip to the Rose Bowl. this was a crazy game (again, did not watch because i was getting shitfaced - legally now - but the bf and ESPN filled me in). Wisconsin led the first quarter, then the Spartans caught up quickly. Wisconsin running back Montee Ball scored a final touchdown with 3:45 left in the game to put the Badgers ahead. then they punted, the Spartans returned it all the way down the field to the Badgers' five-yard line, and THERE WAS A FLAG - roughing the kicker, so that amazing run didn't matter at all. then Wisconsin took a knee, essentially deciding to stop playing and let the time run out, and that was that. sad.
consequence: Wisconsin now at #8 AP, #10 USA Today; Michigan State doesn't really move, now ranked #12/#13.

6. #22 Texas loses to #17 Baylor 24-48. i'm sorry Heidi, i feel like i'm bullying you guys every week, but what a sad season for Texas. Baylor really, really lucked out with their quarterback, Robert Griffin III (wow what a douche with the numerals), who is getting the most talk in terms of Heisman candidates thus far. he threw for two touchdowns and ran for the other two against Texas. the Longhorns' quarterback, on the other hand, threw for three touchdowns in the first half and then turned the ball over five times.
consequence: Texas unranked again. Baylor at #15/#16 sighhhhhhhhhh

so this has been fun.
i mean, obvi we still have the bowl announcements and then the actual bowl games, all of which i'll write about because i won't have this fucking final to worry about and i'll be in Oklahoma and have nothing else to do.
but i love the few of you who read this and i hope this has been, if not informative, at least amusing.
and potential employers, i promise i know how to write professionally and without profanity...
